Marbella! Exclusive Areas to Suit You...

At Blu Sun Property Consulting, we say that not all Marbella areas are equal – this is very true in terms of finding the RIGHT home for you.
In this interview, Pia Karström explains why…

Costa del Sol covers a beachfront of 25km

Marbella is a very special place that offers beauty and variety in equal measure. However, the vast array of attractions and lifestyle amenities available means that one area is often much better suited to a particular buyer than another.

Q: If I want to move to Marbella, isn’t one area very similar to another?
PK: No, not at all. When we refer to “Marbella” we actually mean a 25km reach of the Costa del Sol. This includes stretches of golden beaches, golfing greens and valleys, marinas, exclusive shopping areas with lively bars and fine-dining restaurants plus family-friendly zones with parks, schools and supermarkets.
Some of these areas are very well connected with the local transportation system whereas others sit at an exclusive distance within gated communities.
Marbella certainly offers something for every taste, but the first step of your property search should always be to determine your needs and desires. From there, you can look at the areas that suit you.

Q: Is the area of Marbella that I live in determined by my budget?
PK: No. Good properties within the central Marbella area are currently available for 150,000€ to 500,000€ to 1M+.
Obviously there are certain Marbella areas that demand a much higher price, such as La Zagaleta, which homes many A-Listers. But vibrant areas such as San Pedro, for example, can cater to every budget and every taste as the lifestyle and facilities are extremely wide-ranging.

Q: Where do you live and why?
PK: I live just outside of the village of Benahavís. It is a quick 5 minute drive from the Coast but means that I have stunning views down to the Mediterranean and across to Africa. I like this area as it is very central, meaning that whether my day requires a trip to Málaga or Gibraltar, I am less than an hour away.
Benahavís is extremely special area. It is a more traditional Spanish village, well known for its gastronomical delights with beautiful walks, rockpools and golf.

Q: If you were to go out for an evening, which area are you most likely to visit?
PK: When we have guests, we always start with an evening in Puerto Banús. The atmosphere is contagious and it has a unique, luxurious holiday vibe.
But Benahavís is a must as well because the village is charming with a wide offering of traditional Spanish menus, set within the square and winding streets. San Pedro is also highly recommended as it is always bustling with groups and families, with beach “chiringuitos” and a multitude of bars and restaurants.

Q: Which area of Marbella offers the most in terms of lifestyle? I want to bring my family to Spain regularly and so I need to think about where the children will be happy.
PK: The Spanish are renowned for their acceptance of children. Restaurants warmly welcome them and much of the coast is dotted with play parks and wide areas for them to run around in. The sunshine allows plenty of opportunity for them to enjoy an outdoors way-of-life and activities run year-round.
However, my personal recommendation for a family destination would be the area of San Pedro. It has recently received huge investment into the facilities and infrastructure with the creation of an inspiring boulevard that includes play parks, zip wires, an amphitheatre and frequent entertainment. Of course, the beach and paseo is also always a pleasant way to spend an afternoon.

Q: But I am only really interested in golf, where would you recommend?
PK: There is a key area in Marbella for golfers, aptly called the Golf Valley. 3 beautiful courses interlink to provide not only top-class greens but also incredible views. This is located in Nueva Andalucia, just above Puerto Banús.
Benahavís is also rich with golfing opportunities, including the highly exclusive Marbella Club Golf Course.

Q: On our visit to Marbella, I doubt that we will move far from the beach. Which is the best?
PK: San Pedro beach is certainly the most convenient and its array of attractions can easily occupy individuals or families for a whole day or even a week. However, the most golden sands are probably found just slightly further east in Elviria or Cabopino.
